DescriptionMr. Livett started his career with the London Stock Exchange before moving to Asia in 1990 to advise the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on market quality issues. In 1992 he began a merchant banking career within the corporate finance teams at DBS Bank and Morgan Grenfell Asia in Singapore,and in Bank of China International in London.From January 2003,Mr. Livett began a four year posting as the Beijing-based Project Co-ordinator and Director –Securities Industry for an € 11 million initiative between the EU and China designed to assist in the enhancement of China’s banking,insurance and securities industries. The Project assisted in working closely with the regulatory authorities to help develop a sound,open and efficient financial sector in China.Mr. Livett was a member of the Executive Committee of the Beijing arm of the British Chamber of Commerce in China and was the Co-Chair of its Legal &Financial Services Forum. He is a former Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute of the United Kingdom and holds the Securities Institute’s Diploma (SIE Dip.). He also has an MSc in International Banking and Financial Studies from Heriot-Watt University,Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.From October 2006,Mr. Livett became the Chief Executive of Abacus and ran its business from its Beijing office from January 2007 until January 2010,before relocating back to the United Kingdom and travelling back to Asia on a regular basis. |
