DescriptionRoy made his career in tourism business development with an emphasis on online marketing,e-commerce and regional expertise in Asia/China. He has a deep understanding of different working environments across diverse cultures and markets. His knowledge of China’s culture and business practices comes from academic research and public,private sector work since 1994. Since 2005,he combines project management,business development and consultation on tourism e-commerce,digital marketing and China’s upscale tourism sector. In 2005 he launched ChinaContact and published the China Outbound Travel Handbook (reissued in 2008). Roy is an associate at TEAM Tourism Consulting and has worked for the Xian City government on the development and marketing planning of the Daming Palace National Park. Roy holds a BA degree in Chinese and Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies,University of London. He speaks business level Mandarin Chinese fluently. Building on his experience of online travel,sales and marketing and China know-how,he was tasked with launching a brand new merchant model travel site to the Chinese market. Prior to his work in China Roy was based in gta’s headquarters in London as Business Development Manager of independent travel responsible for several international markets. |
